Goat Cheese and Fig Tart (Flammkuchen a.k.a German Pizza)
Omg, I do love a tart! The traditional German pizza, called a flammkuchen, is usually sprinkled with lots of onions and bacon cubes but we wanted to give this recipe a twist.
I was in an experimental phase in the last few days. I haven’t had made a tart for a while and wanted to make a few for dinner. I wanted to do something different and give it a sweeter taste. One of my favourite flavour combinations is soft goat cheese and figs, so I told myself – why not? There’s nothing that can go wrong and everyone will love the ingredients. And as usual, I turned out to be right! 😉 It was a fabulous dinner that somehow also evaporated one of our bottles of dry wine.
Goat Cheese and Fig Tart Ingredients (serves 2):
- 275 g flour
- 200 g creme fraiche
- 200 g goat cheese
- 25 g walnuts
- 4 figs
- 2 apples
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 large red onion
- 1 tsp dry yeast
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 220°С. Line a parchment paper onto a baking tray.
- Put the flour into a large bowl. Make a well in the centre and put the dry yeast.
- Prepare 200 ml warm water and pour some of it over the yeast. Stir until the yeast has is dissolved. Cover the bowl with a tea towel and leave the yeast to proof.
- Add the remaining water into the bowl. Add in the salt and olive oil, and knead a soft dough. Place it in the bowl, cover again and leave it to rise for half an hour.
- Meanwhile, peel the apples and cut them into slices.
- Cut the onion into thin slices.
- Cut the goat cheese and figs into slices.
- Crush the walnuts.
- Take the dough and divide it into two halves. Roll them out thinly.
- Spread the creme fraiche evenly onto both tarts. Arrange the apple and onion slices.
- Arrange the goat cheese and fig slices.
- Sprinkle with the walnuts, honey and black pepper.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes.
Bon appetit!
