Christmas Rudolph Cookies

Christmas Reindeer Cookies

This is one of the two types of cookies I made for my colleagues. I used a classic sugar cookie recipe that is perfect for cutting out cookies. I used round cookie cutters but in case you don’t have any – you can always use a glass (it’s better if it has thin walls). These Christmas Rudolph Cookies are incredibly easy to make and are an ideal finish to your Christmas table.

The other cookies I made – Melted Snowman Cookies – are also round, so you can decorate half of them like Reindeer Cookies, and the other half – as Snowman Cookies. This way you can make Royal icing only once and use it as “snow” and to glue the reindeer noses.

Christmas Rudolph Cookies:

  1. In a big bowl, mix together the butter and sugar..
  2. Mix in the egg and vanilla, until well incorporated.
  3. In another bowl, mix together all dry ingredients and gradually add them to the butter mixture. Mix until a smooth dough is obtained. Divide it into two balls, wrap them in cling film and place in the fridge to chill for 30-60 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  5. Lightly dust your work surface with flour and roll out half of the dough until 0.5 cm thick. Cut out round cookies 4-5 cm in diameter.
  6. Arrange the Christmas Reindeer cookies onto a large baking tray covered with parchment paper and bake for about 8 minutes. Leave them aside to cool.
  7. Using black decorator frosting, draw two little dots approx. in the centre or each cookie – these will be the reindeer eyes.
  8. Then draw two diagonal lines upwards and away from the eyes. Add a few more lines to finish off the reindeer antlers. Christmas Reindeer Cookies Recipe
  9. Add a big dot of royal icing (or white decorator icing) where the nose is going to be – under the eyes. Gently press the M&M’s – you can even use brown and chocolatey cake decorations.
  10. This Christmas Reindeer Cookies recipe makes around 45 adorable cookies.
