Apple Roses is a recipe that I have seen quite often while browsing the net lately. I even watched a few short videos and find it fascinating that so few ingredients can create something so strikingly beautiful. I decided to try it myself using the method below and… well, you can see the result for yourself!
Ingredients for 6 apple roses:
- 275 g puff pastry sheets
-
50 g apricot jam
-
2 apples
-
½ lemon
-
1 tablespoon sugar
-
½ tsp sunflower oil – for greasing the muffin tin
-
Powdered sugar, for sprinkling
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 175ºC and grease a muffin tin.
- Core the apples and cut them into thin slices.
- Fill a large bowl with cold water and squeeze in the lemon. Pop the apple slices in.
- Put the bowl of apples in the microwave for three minutes, then strain the water out.
- Place the apricot jam in a small bowl. Add the cinnamon and the sugar, then stir.
- Unroll the sheet of puff pastry. Roll it out lightly with a rolling pin and cut it into six equal slices.
- Spread each slice of pastry with the jam, and then place the apple slices along the top, skin side up.
- Fold over the remaining dough to cover the bottom half of the apples, and roll the pastry up to create an apple rose.
- Place the apple roses in a pre-greased muffin baking tin and bake for about 45 minutes.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar after cooling.
Good appetite!
