    After spending hours looking at the various silicone based ice trays and reading the reviews for those items, I finally settled on this brand. In response to the various negatives I was concerned about:

    Plastic odor or taste- I haven't noticed any abnormal tastes or smells in the trays or ice cubes. I have other silicone bakeware that does sometimes have a scent, but not in these trays. I am one of those people that has sensitive taste, and am very intolerant of chemical smells or flavors.

    Hard to use- Like all ice trays, you have to use a little common sense and use two hands when putting them in the freezer. Be particularly aware of the fact that the silicone will not allow the trays to slide into place, so they have to be set into the location you want them in the freezer. They don't stack, so I used a cheap freezer shelf to stack them. Cubes have been easy to remove, certainly easier than the plastic trays that I had before. I give the plastic a wiggle, and then just pop them out. I have arthritis, and Raynaud's (which means I can't hold cold things without pain) and have no problems getting these cubes out. I don't try to dump all the cubes at once, but I didn't do that with the plastic trays either.

    Size- Yes these trays are smaller than standard trays and make small cubes. I personally like the size and they seem to last longer than other, and larger, cubes. I am the only one using the ice though, so if you have a family, or a larger group, these may not be a great idea. But I think that is a consequence of using trays instead of an ice maker, not a fault in the manufacture or design of the product.

    Residue-I have not had any residue as of yet. However, I only use filtered water in my trays (and in my drinking water).

    I hope that answers any questions people might have, because I really love these trays. I was so pleased, and love being able to get ice for water without violence against plastic trays. Just one of those really simple things that makes life easier.
